Replay Manager and VMware Datastore Clusters
Hi,
Is anyone using Replay Manager to create scheduled backup sets of clustered datastores, or VMs that are on clustered datastores in vSphere? I'm hoping that maybe someone on DSITV 4.1.2 with vCenter 6.0/6.5 can confirm whether or not they can actually see clustered datastores in Replay Manager Explorer, and VMs on them? We are currently on DSITV 5.1 and vCenter 6.7 and cannot see clustered datastores nor VMs on them in Dell Replay Manager, we can however see normal standalone datastores and the VMs on those.
So, until May, our Compellent SC4020s were on SCOS 7.2.51.4, DSITV 4.1.2, DSM 2018 R1.10, and vCenter 6.5 (can't remember exactly which release of 6.5). At that time, we were using Dell Replay Manager to create scheduled VM backup sets of a few VMs that were on clustered datastores, we had been using that set up for about a year. Back in May I performed an upgrade of DSITV to 5.0 (migration rather than upgrade as upgrade is was not supported for that version) and DSM to 2018 R1.20. Since then, the backup sets in Replay Manager have been failing, and it appeared to be that for some reason, when looking in Replay Manager Explorer, it was no longer displaying most of our VMs/datastores, specifically it was not able to see any clustered datastores, nor VMs on clustered datastores; Non-clustered (i.e. standalone) datastores, and the VMs on them, were/are being displayed okay.
Since then we have had a few upgrades, SCOS 7.3.11.28, DSITV 5.0 and now 5.1, DSM 2019 R1.10 and vCenter 6.7 U2. As DSITV 5.1 added official support for 6.7, I had hoped it would resolve the issue, but it did not, so I finally logged a call to to Dell and am being told that Replay Manager cannot do clustered datastores (but we were using it with 4.1.2), so it seems either somehow it miraculously worked for us, or that possibly the functionality was removed, although there is no mention of it either way in the documentation for DSITV or Replay Manager.
As mentioned near the top of my post, I'm hoping someone with DSITV 4.1.2 and vCenter 6.0/6.5 can maybe check and see if they are able to see clustered datastores (and the VMs on them) in Replay Manger Explorer. Or if you happen to be on a newer version (e.g. DSITV 5.1 and vCenter 6.7) and are able to see them, that would be useful to know. I have this issue on four vCenters (each with their own registered DSITV appliance), and on one of them I tried redeploying a clean DSITV configured from scratch, but still the same issue, I also tried 4.1 and 5.0, but neither of them support 6.7 so I was unable to register them with vCenter, so was not able to actual test those versions.
Thank you for any assistance,
Matt

Hello PebbleMatt,
For this issue it would be best to call in to support so that we can review a few things.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
