Live Volume and Windows cluster
Hi All,
I intend for using SC (Compellent) Live Volume for my Windows Cluster servers. I could not find the document about it. Please advise if it is supported by.
Here is the plan:
- Two SC storages are in the same room.
- Both connects to the FC fabric.
- Both use Virtual Port mode.
- Synchronous replication will be used too.
Thank you,

There is documentation here: Dell SC Series Storage: Synchronous Replication and Live Volume http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/extras/m/white_papers/20439310
https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_software/esuprt_it_ops_datcentr_mgmt/general-solution-resources_white-papers7_en-us.pdf
And you can refer to page 669 under Storage Center Replications and Live Volumes of the Dell Storage Manager 2016 R3 Administrator’s Guide: https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/storage-sc2000_administrator-guide_en-us.pdf

Hi Bob,
Do you mind if I send you the diagram so you can give me some advise. You can drop an email to my mailbox
My setup has 01 SC9K (dual controllers) & 01 SC 8K (single controller), 02 FC switches. I put 02 DSM version 2016 R3. SC storages are in Virtual port mode.
SC9K: 4 FC port/controller. 4 Fault domain. Each FD has 02 FC port
- 2 FD for FE
- 2 FD for replication
SC8K: 4 FC port/controller. 4 Fault domain. Each FD has 01 FC port
- 2 FD for FE.
- 2 FD for replication
