Is NTP configured and working on Storage Centers and DSM-Appliance?

I need procedure that can be run to check that the Storage Centers and DSM-appliance have been configured for NTP with IP addresses of two local timer servers and that the synchronisation is working.

I can find the NTP configuration for SCs and the appliance in Unisphere. However there is nothing there that I have been able to find that would tell me that the NTP servers have been successfully contacted and time is synchronised.

Is there a way to way to tell if the NTP services/daemons are working OK?

For info: The systems in question are Sc5020 with DSM2018.

As an aside, we have a development rig with 4020s which doesn't have any NTP service. I noticed that there isn't an obvious way of manually setting the time on the appliance and it shows a date in 2018!

If you configure your SC trough DSM directly that for sure the NTP is checks and when there is an error you cant save the settings.  This is true within the initial setup wizard and also when connected to the SC.

Cant speak for Unisphere.

Same here.... we set manual time during pre-deployment and later we switch to NTP when its available.

Ah-ha! Great! The same problem as VMware VCSA! We sometimes have to prepare and install systems with correct configuration (inc. NTP server addresses) before the servers themselves are available. But that is another issue.

That is helpful to a degree. I.e. it would tell me on inspection that the configuration viewed on SCs would have been correct at the time it was set up. How do I confirm it is working right now and that there is no drift between what the SCs think the time is and the time being presented by the NTP servers? Likewise with the DSM appliance?

Ok.. i have checked Unisphere (we use the DSM Appliance for ages now) and also not allowing to specify a not existing NTP.

In our Pre Deployment area we have a setup where we can simulate the Customer Network when speaking of DNS, NTP, Routing.
