How to decommission a SC4020 and wipe all of the drives

I have a customer that has two Dell SC4020 NAS's. They were bought by another company and need to decommission these boxes which includes securely wiping the drives. Is there a way to do this through the dell storage manager? I personally don't know why they just don't pull the drives and shred them.

Hello 3ddman,

Are you trying to reuse your SC4020?  The reason that I ask this is that if you are going to reuse your SC4020, then it is best to call into support so that we can capture the license & some other important data before we reset your SC4020.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

No, they do not plan to reuse them. They will be scrapped more than likely, but they want the data scrubbed from the drives before doing so. How do I go about 'resetting' them?

Hello 3ddman,

Have you already deleted all the volumes that were on your Compellent?  If your Compellent still has a support contract, then you can phone support & they can restore the system back to defaults which will scrub all data.  Support is the only ones who can reset the system as there are quite a few steps that have to be done correctly to ensure that all data is removed.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
