How can the Dell Storage SCv3020 controllers be factory reset without credentials?
We received a second-hand Dell Storage SCv3020, but unfortunately, we do not have the credentials or the server environment to work with it. Our question is: If we erase the external HDD, will the storage be GDPR-compliant for the new owner? Additionally, can we donate the storage, and will the new owner be able to use it without the firmware? We were unable to find an answer or the necessary firmware for this. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply! We appreciate the information.
We are specifically concerned about the residual system and configuration data you mentioned. Do you have any advice on how we can reset or securely erase those settings to ensure GDPR compliance before donating the unit?

Without a license and a booting device the unit will be worthless. For sure a compellent can be re-imaged but without a valit support contract with Dell it would be impossible because the needed image isnt available for free.

About not heaving credentials... there is a method by creating a USB stick with a simple file which unlock the "Admin" (capital letter A!). You can log into with any password than except an empty one.

Thank you so much for your replays!
For a moment, I was worried we might have to recycle it—that would have been a real shame. I plan to install Dell Storage Replay Manager and Dell Storage Manager, create a USB to reset the password - unlock.phy content: unlock Admin, and attempt to factory reset both controllers.
Hopefully, this will allow us to avoid erasing the SSDs in the controllers. Since our policy states that if there is even the slightest chance of the previous owner's information being exposed, we cannot donate the equipment—we would have to recycle it instead.
I hope I did understand well the steps.

Hello.
Yes you can Take out the Bios battery on Cotrollers. This Shuld erase The Admin Back to default.
This worked to me.
Then i use a consol kable to the Unit so i can use Cli ( Command Line)
Then i use the Ifconfig command to Set DHCP so i can see the device in my DHCP.
Then i can see it in my Web Browser.
But i Think Myu Controller is bad. it keeeps Rebooting. :( but i will Try som more.
