Dell SCv3020 system is unable to accept disk
Hello! The SCv3020 data is out of order on system storage. We replaced it with a spare one. The new disk appears in the folder unassigned. The status is "Healthy" - Yes, the status is "down".DP/N the numbers of the old disks and the new one are the same. What could be the problem?

system doesnt appear to be recognizing the disk because of the attribute "drive line". which i believe is short for drive lineup. what i think is happening here is the disk is not matching the data in the compellent table and when that happens it comes up unknown and not compatible with the system. can you confirm both disks have same PN, model, and firmware?

sc9000nerd,
We would first need to know if the replacement drive was a shelf spare or if it came from another compellent system, the reason I ask is that
like it is acting like it is from a different system and the data on the replacement drive doesn't match the system table.
Let me know.

Hello!
Both drives have the same P/N and model, but different firmware. There is a revision of the SF79 firmware on the old hard drive, on the new SF78

Hi,
Thanks for the pictures.
To be honest, there are some cases that are similar to your issue. There isn't any workaround for this new drive you bought. I would suggest informing/discussing with the seller that you bought from that this drive is not working on your storage. Yes, it is identical drive, but there are cases reported that this issue would arise and no workaround.

Thanks for the answer! Is it possible to use an identical empty disk from another system? What should I do with the disk to do this?

IlyaDell,
You can try it, but I would see if the firmware matches beforehand. While the part numbers are the same there may be a varience of the drive intended for a different platform, which the firmware would be specific to like Compellent or possibly Equallogic.

@IlyaDell if able i would try plugging in the drive and rebooting the machine with all drives. sometimes i have seen it where when the machine is booting it will see the drive and flash new firmware to it.
