DELL SC2020 TOP CONTROLLER OFFLINE

Good day.

We have a customer with an SC2020 Storage, they'd experienced an unexpected power interruption last December. Upon checking its status, we have found that the top controller is offline. Should I just restart the top controller? does restarting the controller needs system downtime?

Thank you for an advance response.

Hook up a serial cable and check the state of the controller.

@Origin3k

Hi Sir,

However can I restart the top controller without system downtime? Can I replace the controller hotswap and just rebalance it?

Thank you.

Assuming a non responsable controller it means that you pull it out, wait 1min and than insert it again.   It depence on the Hosts and how Multipathing is configured if a downtime is needed.  You havent sayed if the FaultDomain is a SAS, iSCSI or FC one.  But i expect that this is system setup with redunancy in mind.

But again... you should setup the serial connection so check whats going on.

Yes you should rebalance the ports if the controller is back.
