Dell NX3240 NAS storage and SupportAssist

Can anyone tell me what firewall rules are required for a Dell NX3240 to communicate with SupportAssist?

Is below correct? (Concern about it having Compellent in the hostname)

Also will this be configured on the IDRAC of the NX3240?

Any help appreciated

Hello Phil,

With an NX3240 you will want to make sure that you follow the configuration for a Poweredge Server.  Here is the link to the users guide so you can see which ports need to be open. https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/supportassist-enterprise-v20_users-guide_en-us.pdf

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the reply. From the reading I'm doing in that document it sounds like I need to install SupportAssist Enterprise right? unlike what is required for compellent storage?

Then Support Assist Enterprise will need access to the internet?

Hello Phil,

That is correct that since you are using enterprise storage you need to use Support Assist Enterprise.  Compellent use support assist as well, however for a Compellent system is configured a little different than an NX system.  Support Assist will need to access the internet if you want Dell to be notified about the errors and you wish to have a case auto created.
