Dell EMC Unisphere Access Denied

Hi All,

A few months ago I upgraded Dell Storage Manager Client to version 2019 R1.10. As part of this Dell EMC Unisphere was installed to replace Data Collector.

After the upgrade I could login to Unisphere OK using the credentials used for Data Collector. now however when I try to login I get Authentication failed from Unisphere. (same credentials)

A quick search on google and other people have also experienced this same issue after the upgrade but no fix has been posted. Has anyone seen this before or know how I can resolve.

Thanks

Hello JLM77,

You need to have a data collector installed in order to access your compellent system.  without a data collector installed you will not be able to connect.  Here is the link to storage manager install guide, and in the guide,  it states that you need to have one installed. https://dell.to/2KHxa8v

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Dell Data collector is still installed - I upgraded Dell Storage Manager Client and Data collector to version 19.1.10.350 As part of the Data collector upgrade, Dell Unisphere was installed.

I was under the impression (from the upgrade process and the Dell support agent who asked us to upgrade) Dell Data Collector was now accessed throughl Unisphere instead of from Storage Manager client.

Intermediately after the initial upgrade I could logon to Data Collector through Unisphere, This is only the second time I have tried to logon and  I get 'Authentication Failed' .  I have also tried to log in to Data Collector through Storage Manager client without success.

The credentials that worked immediately after the upgrade were the same credentials I had always used to open Data Colector.  I presume the upgrade doesn't reset the credentials or create other default credentials?

Is there a way to reset the password?

Hello,

There's not a particularly easy way to perform the reset. If you have a support contract, I'd encourage you to contact support. Support does have the ability to reset passwords, but I believe they have a process they have to follow. I recommend contacting support because there's not an option to reset the password, you'd have to uninstall and reinstall Unisphere.

Looking at the thread, it reads as though you may have a case at present (unless I'm just misunderstanding). If that is correct, you might send your case owner an email and save yourself a phone call. Apologies for not having a more convenient option, but it doesn't look like one exists.

Hey,

There's no password reset for the Data Collector. Only way to regain the Data Collector access is to reinstall the software/service. Usually what is recommended when upgrading the Data Collector is to stop the service first and then upgrade. Good luck!

You should try to reboot the System where you have DataCollector/Unisphere installed on. We have seen the same issue after the system runs with some higher uptime that we cant login anymore. After restart the existing User/Pass works again.

Yes the have renamed it to Unisphere Central for SC but the DataCollector is there and you can see it in the lower left after successfully loginto Unisphere WebGUI

Btw. do youre running the Virtual Appliance or the Windows Version of the Software? The Windows Version runs slightly better than the Appliance.

Joerg
