Dell Compellent SC4020 SNMP Monitoring IOPS

Hello to everyone,

I would like to monitor IOPS on my Dell Compellent SC4020.  I can't find these OIDs.

Please advise.

Thank you in advance,

Denys

Hello Denys,

To monitor performance on your SC4020 you will need to use DSM (Dell Storage Manager). Once you have installed DSM then you will want to go to the Performance Tab and there you can select to monitor your IOPS.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

If you install the Storage Management Pack for System Center, it exposes a TON of WMI counters that you can use, including IO Pending, Read IOP, Write IOP, Total IOP, free space, etc on a per volume basis and on the storage center level. This does NOT require a System Center server to actually connect to to get the WMI counters, just a Storage Manager Data Collector. You can use something like WMIExplorer to take a look at what's offered, and if using something like Nagios you can grab the data through NSCP. It's not SNMP, and quite frankly kind of hacky, but it does work.

Hello, we have this setup, can you tell me where to look in the WMI tree for the counters?

Many Thanks.
