Creating a Server cluster

Hello All,

I hove gone over the SCOS admin guide on creating a cluster and it seems very straight forward but I am wondering what is actually happening in the back end? Is it just pooling all of my servers I add to the cluster together so I can distribute volumes? If I create a cluster and add existing servers am I going to break anything? The servers I want to add are already on the system just not in a cluster. They also do not have any volumes presented to the servers either from this array.

Thanks,

Scott

Hello Scott,

When you cluster servers with a compelent system, it will pool all resources that will be used by all hosts.  You can add servers to your cluster, and it will not break any previous configuration.  Since the systems are already connected to the system all you will need to do is to put them in a cluster and create your volumes and assign them.
