Compellent web console performance

Hi guys,

I have noticed a degradation in the management web console's performance for my Compellent. I am using FireFox 13.0.1 as my browser and have also tried IE 9. Navigating around  the console between all sections used to be very quick but over the last few weeks it takes much longer when navigating around. Controllers have been rebooted but that has not helped.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

There is a Copilot Services Technical Alert (CSTA) in regards to Java 7:

CSTA - Storage Center and Enterprise Manager Java 7 Incompatibility

kc.compellent.com/.../Download.aspx

If you do not have access to the Customer Portal please contact Copilot at 866-397-8673, or support@compellent.com in order to request access information.

At this time your best option would be to contact the Compellent Copilot team at 866-397-8673.

Which version of Java are you running? Oracle has replaced 1.6.x with the new 1.7.x train which gets installed by default. They have been maintaining the 1.6.x train however as lot of things don't work well with 1.7. If you are running 1.7.x, try going back to 1.6 land. The latest release of this train is 1.6.33 java.com/.../manual_v6.jsp

(The Compellent SC GUI is actually just a Java app. You can see the same thing launched if you use the Enterprise Manager client.)

We just installed a Compellent array with the new SC8000 controllers. When I first conencted to the Storage Center interface, it was extremely slow. I've discovered that if I uncheck the "Keep temporary Files" box in my Java client, the web console performance increases dramatically. Doesn't matter if I'm running Java 1.6 or 7, the results are the same.

That's very interesting, I'll have to test this on a VM that doesn't have any Java Web Start apps
