Compellent SC500 SNMP crash
Hi,
We have a Dell Compellent SC500 with 2 controllers, Unfortunately the SNMP agent has crashed on the bottom controller and we are unable to restart the SNMP agent through EMC storage center, when we go to start it, the device attempts to restart but errors with "Failed to modify object, see system logs for additional information" A quick look of the logs just shows the messaged that daemon snmpsubagent is not runnable,
Any one encountered this issue? any suggestions ?

Hello Origin_90,
Did you enable SSH Logging on your Compellent? If you haven’t then I would run the command again so that we can see what error, it is giving of why it is not starting the SNMP. Have you also tried to reboot the bottom controller to see if that will start the service again?
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello Origin_90,
There is a documented issue in Storage Center OS 6.7.x where SNMP Traps are enabled, the SNMP services can crash leaving SNMP inoperable. SNMP works without issue if Traps are disabled and only the standard polling portion of SNMP is utilized. With this configuration all events are still received by the SNMP server/appliance, but only when polled. This would mean that alerts/notifications would not be sent to the SNMP server/appliance in real-time.
Workaround:
Stop SNMP Trap service on Storage Center from Enterprise Manager or System Explorer web interface.
6.7.20 and above
To resolve this you should upgrade to SCOS06.07.30 or above. If you are running a version above this then I would call in to support for assistance.
