Compellent and Vmware 8.X
Hi,
Is there any roadmap to have compellent compatible with vmware 8.X.
Since 8.X is out since Nov 2022, i don't understand why it's not already.
Sincerely,

Hi Marco,
When are you gonna have this information? That's very important for compellent users.

As of now, there is no clear roadmap or specific information regarding the compatibility of Compellent with VMware 8.X. The latest supported version for Dell's Storage Center, as mentioned in discussions on Dell's official forums, is 7.0.3. It was also noted that Dell's Storage Center, which includes Compellent, reached its end of life in late 2021. Due to this, Dell reportedly does not prioritize certification for newer platforms like VMware 8.X, as it involves additional costs for a platform that is no longer actively supported

Hello Marco,
I'm very disappointed about Dell's strategy. Hope their gonna change their mind. Keep hardware longer is a good thing especially when this one is still working perfectly. With this EOL of Vmware 7.X in early 2025 that means a lot of us are gonna throw compellent SAN not because they are not working but because there is no support of Vmware 8.X. I think we can all agree that a gesture would be appreciated especially when time will come to renew hardware we'll remember.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. I understand your frustration, especially given that your Compellent SAN hardware is still functioning perfectly.
I agree that maintaining support for effective and functioning systems is important, and it's unfortunate that the lack of support for VMware 8.X is leading to this situation. Your point about the importance of hardware longevity, especially in the context of environmental and economic considerations, is well-taken.
Please rest assured that your feedback is invaluable. While I may not have direct influence over Dell's strategic decisions, it's crucial that our customers' voices are heard, particularly when it comes to making decisions about hardware renewal and support.
In the meantime, if there's anything specific I can assist you with, or if you're looking for potential alternatives or solutions, please feel free to reach out. We value your business and are here to support you in any way we can.
Best regards,
Marco

Hello,
Is there any update? Vmware 7.X will be officially out of support in one year. Clock is ticking...

Hello SC3020,
Regarding Dell SC Series and associated software like DISTV.
It is only validated up to VMware Version 7.0.
Currently, there is no plan to add VMware version 8.0 ( ESXi Hosts and vCenter) in the supported list for Dell SC Series.
