Can't find RAID configuration, Create Pool SCv2020

Hi everyone..

I'm new to Dell storage products..

After first initializitation the SCV2020, I want to create disk group or configure the RAID level for the system but I cant find them in the storage GUI. I just found creating new volume, or rebalance RAID.

Is there any step that I missed?

Thank you.

Welcome to Dell SC storage :)

The SCv is a light version (v for value) of the full SC storage line. All of these units use storage virtualization, so that all disks are used to support the I/O of the system. By default the system would have added all disks and picked one spare (per enclosure). The SCv are single disk type units, so you would be dealing one tier of disk (vs the full SC that supports three of them).

SC storage does not use create RAID groups or anything like that. You would use the storage profiles to tell the system how you wanted it to write to volumes (luns) and how you would want it to store the data over time. Default is to write in RAID10 (fastest), and read in RAID5/6 (no difference). This gives you an automatic system to give you the cheapest long term storage efficiency while provided the best performance possible for writes. You want to be sure Replays are taken at LEAST once a day to ensure the data gets moved between RAID levels.

Hello please read following documents, they will help you greatly in understanding the amazing Dell SC series:

Also i would recommend using Dell Enterprise Manager 2015 R1, instead of R3, it looks like it works best with R1.

Also please register on below Compellent site, tons of great informations.
