Can not see new controllers

I reset our 2 SC8000 controllers. I can ping the management ip address. When i pull up the management ip address in my browser i see use enterprise manager client. Using the software i can not see the controllers. I used arp to pull the mac address of the management ip. And typed it into the software to try to find it,but no luck.

Hello RadarG,

It sounds like one or both of your controllers didn’t complete the reset and is in a hanging state. The only way to confirm this by contacting support and we can serial into the controllers to see if the controllers are stuck or what is prevent them from completing boot.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I really hope not. I installed a latest DSM client on my laptop. My laptop is configured to the same subnet as the controllers.

I'm going to try to reset them again and get back with you.

I was able to use the BSM to login to controller "B". I started the initialize process on controller B. I get a failed to create an object at the SSL part. I can not skip this process. listed the box is the hostnames and IP addresses in there. The other controller A is stuck at the controller failed at first selection. The default password isnt working. I think "A" is hosed but what about "B". Is there a way to get "B" working

Hello RadarG,

With an SC8000 you have to have both controllers working to complete the initialize of the system.  If controller A will not boot, then you can try to swap the controllers to see if it will start in slot b.  If you get the same result in slot b, then support would have to look into the system to see why the controller is not booting.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I think that i have some more information. Controller A is stuck at the "InitializeIPC" I have removed A and rewired controller B to access all the enclosures in a single chain. However B loads up fine. but I can not see the controller using the BSM. I'm trying to use the Dell appliance, but it is not wanting to power up.

Hello justinnkim,
If Controller A is stuck at the "InitializeIPC" it cannot see its partner. There should be a cable connecting both of them in the eth1 port of both controllers. You can contact support and they can assist you in getting the controller to bypass this requirement.
