What happens if you right klick on that 7.2K folder or Disks and select "assign disks"?

I cannot remember if its normal having a red warning sign on disk in the unassigned folder. Also the SCv units acts different when it comes to handling unassigned disk.

Btw... you should upgrade your SCOS because its a very old version and 7.3 and 7.4 brings huge improvements.

  1. You need to configure SupportAssists and open your FW so that the SC can reach dell
  2. You should configure your FW that you can get the SecureConsole working which is needed by Dell to perform the pre checks for the upgrade. Also for trouble shooting when you really need their help

If youre running on a dark site Dell Support will tell you how to store the SupportAssists Report on USB stick and how to upgrade SCOS with an ISO.

Joerg

My finally solution is buy the disk from dell, and it perfect work.

May I know if you do try update the FW of the SANS or related software? It might help the case.

That a disk is placing into the unassigned folder is a normal behavior.

But based on the screenshot the status of this disk is "down".

  1. Broken disk
  2. Disk from a different Compellent which was not cleared
  3. Disk from an unsupportet Compellent. Disk from a SCv cannot used in a SC
  4. You dont need a Dell Disk. You always needs a Compellent (from Dell of course) one. These disks are preformated and before Dell sell such a disk they verify if you can used it based on your SCOS version

Buying such a disk from 2nd. market can be a challenge.
