Vnx 5200 back rev mif file missing

Question

Hello forum team, I have a few VNX 5200 units that are in excellent physical condition. My goal is to restore them to factory state — specifically, I want to reimage them. Right now, I'm stuck because I don’t have the required .mif files. I'm wondering if it's possible to extract those .mif files from the system itself using either Navicli commands or the UI, since I currently have access to the device. I already have the file:VNX-Block-Operating-Environment-05.33.009.5.231Can this be used to reimage the system instead of the .mif file? Also, if I go through with the reimage process, will the license be lost?If yes, is there any way I can extract or back up the license now while I still have access? One important note: I currently do not have an active Dell support account.I would really appreciate it if someone could help me obtain the needed .mif file so I can move forward with the recovery. I'm working alone on this, but I have access to all necessary tools — from basic serial cables to a full electronics lab. I'm also a fast learner. Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello taha96,

To perform a reimage you will need the mif files. Now you can also reimage from the SP’s one at a time, however those steps are for Partners and Support only. It is always best to make sure you have a copy of the license file before you reimage the SP’s. Now you need to have an active support contract for DellEMC to email you the license. You can get the license from the system, however the steps to do so are for partners and support only.
