For support use only. EMC Unisphere Client v1.0.x. can be used as a troubleshooting tool. Version 1.0 is an older version of the Unisphere management tool for Windows. Newer versions are fully backward compatible and are qualified with newer Java revisions.

But only EMC employee and service partners can access this site.

What version of flare is running on the CLARiiON? Some of the versions of Unisphere Client might not support the older arrays. And newer versions require different versions of JAVA. I have in out lab older CLARiiON arrays running flare from release 24 to 29 and with the latest Client (UnisphereClient-Win-32-x86-en_US-1.3.2.1.0051-1.exe) I'm able to access the older arrays. I also have JAVA 1.7.51 installed.

In general, the Unisphere software (USM, Client, Server) are replaced when a new version is released. So 1.0 (the version that came out with Flare release 30 on the CX4) has been replaced by the later vesrions - 1.1 (flare 31 for VNX), ,1.2 (Flare 32 for VNX) and 1.3 (Flare version 33 for the VNX2). With each new release they try to maintain backwards compatibility.

One of the reasons for the replacement is that when there are issues with an older version, a decision is made to fix the older version or put the fix into the newer version. So some fixes for issues with 1.0 for example, would be put into 1.1 or 1.2. The release notes would explain this.

I am running flare version 02.19.300.5.030 on my CX300.

Flare release 19 is not supported with the latest 1.3 Client when using JAVA 1.7.51.

I'll load an older java (1.6.30) and see if can get to a flare 19 array (probably tomorrow).
