SP failover testing
Hi,
As per the BCP testing plan, we will be testing the HA of the 2 SP(Storage Processor) in CX4-480.
Applications on SPA will be failed over to SPB and vice versa.
environment:
->RPA
->Cellera (direct connection)
->VM-servers
->Winows servers
->AIX servers
Managemnt tool: Unisphere
Please help me, what are the precations need to take before sutdown the SP?
How can I sutdown the single SPA/SPB?

Sorry - didn't read the link. If you're planning on testing unexpected failures, then you must ensure that all hosts are connected per the best practice to High Availability - dual HBAs, dual switches, four paths per host, supported failover software (PowerPath or equivalent), EMC Host Agent, dual SPS's, etc. You must eliminate any single point of failure. The EMC Server Utility CD that comes with each array contains a stand-along HAVT test that you can run to see if each host is setup for HA.
If you want to simulate an SP failure (power off) then you need to pull the power plug on the SP where it plugs into the SPS (battery backup). This way the SP will shut down completely. On the CX4, when the remaining SP senses the lose of peer SP, it will preserve cache (GWCA - Greater Write Cache Availability). At the point that the SP powers off, the hosts should begin sensing the loss of paths and start trespassing LUNs to the remaining SP.

Hi Glen,
Thank you for your answer,
Instead of pull out the plug I used the " Sutdownsp " command in Naviseccli.
I have a doubt, after shutdown for power on the SPA/B I did power off the SPSA/B and Power on the same.
I want to know is there any alternate way is there for power on the SPA/B?
**SPS:Stand by Power Supply.
SPA - SPSA
SPB - SPSB
