Re-Use/Install CX4-960
Good day,
I have a fairly easy question, I have transplanted a SAN to a new location with different networking.
I know the old SPa and SPb IPs but I am having trouble accessing those IPs. Does anyone have experience with re-IPing these?
Which of the 2 ports should I be plugging my laptop into? (top/bottom)
Any general tips? (Windows XP Laptop)

"It seems you have forgotten the IP Address to access the CX4.
Anyhoo, You can connect using to CLARiiON using Service LAN ports. You would only need to connect to one either SPA or SPB.
Configure your service laptop to use the address 128.221.1.249/24, plug the cable to Service LAN Port and try to ping 128.221.1.250 or 128.221.1.251 (the default service addresses for SPA and SPB). If this works you can browse to http://128.221.1.250 and try with the default access credentials i.e. (admin/password). If this doesn't work out for you then you will need to create a PPP Connection to either of the SP.

Service LAN Port will have an icon showing a Spanner. That's your port!

DNS Server Entries: Blank
Also, do note that the Service LAN ports on CX4 are no longer crossed as they were on CX3 Series. When you connect to the SPA’s LAN port, you are connected to SPA, and the same for SPB.
You can then connect to either SP:
SPA – http://128.221.1.250/setup
SPB – http://128.221.1.251/setup
Moreover, Please move this discussion to CLARiiON Support Forum for wider reach.

What would the gateway be?
Is the 128* address available even if it is configured?
I can not get the ppp connection working so I am at a loss.

List of things I have tried:
Of note: this SAN has no LUNs or data which is needed, destructive restoral is an option.
Also, If I can get any kind of communication, I still have the old passwords.
Thank you in advance.

Can you post a picture of Powered ON CX4?
1. Front (Showing all Enclosures)
2. Back Panel.
3. Back Panel. (ZOOMED to SPEs where we can see the Ports and LEDs clearly)
Error 777 refers to: The connection attempt failed because the modem or other connecting device on the remote computer is out of order.
I am starting to think either cable or the port is bad!

I will not be able to take pictures, but I can tell you, I most likely cabled something wrong. Would changing the configuration of the DAEs cause my inability to connect? Should I only connect DAE 0-0 (the one with the storage configuration) to simplify?
After a restart of the SP enclosure, how long do I wait to connect?
I have tried a second laptop, same 777 on both SP (spanner wrench) ports.
On the second laptop I have tried the IP connection method mentioned before.

I did cable it up wrong. I think that I had assumed the top shelf was SPa.
“CX4_Installing_Storage-System_Hardware-_Master_1432372.pdf” Has a good drawing. I had the top going to the right/bottom.
It is all setup now.
