On a CX3-20 what is the proper way to add a new host(initiator)?

I am looking for some help or guidance with adding a new host to managed some new LUNs through Navisphere 6. My current topology is below:

- CX3-20 fibre connected to a Qlogic SANbox 5200 (2 controllers SPA and SPB)

- A new host, HP DL 380 G5/Server Win2003 x64 and connected to SANbox 5200 using a Qlogic QLE2460

- On the picture attached it finds the WWN for the HBA linked to the host, but when i try register the initiators and add them as a new host with the hostname and IP address it throws an error message stating that there is no agent on the host and it cannot connect nor register. Any help will greatly be appreciated. In addition, my new host is an exchange 2007 server and the LUNs will server as database and logs location.EMC-GroupEditInitiators.JPG.jpgEMC-Connectivity Status window.JPG.jpg

You have two options. Either A) Go ahead and register the host (Ignoring the error),  it will just be "unmanaged" - which doesn't really impact anything.   or B) Install the host agent on the server(s) in question.  Doing this will populate information (such as ip address, logical volume name, etc) in Navisphere.  If you opt for option B you will not have to manually register the host,  it will register itself.

Either way, your choice.  Personally I like using the host agent - but that is not always possible.

Option 3 is to use server utility to register in Navisphere

Hi,

you can also generate customized procedure from CX3 Support UPD but ensure you to set the correct failover settings as per EMC KB article emc99467 for the host initiator.

Thanks
