Multi Path Volumes Listed even with PowerPath installed
Hi guys,
I am seing multiple instances of the same LUN in Windows' Disk Management. I have read into this and found that this is due to PowerPath now being installed. After installing PowerPath, this issue was resolved, but only until the server was rebooted. Now no matter what i do, uninstall/reinstall PowerPath, the volumes are still displayed in doubles/triples. Here's the setup: EMC CLARiiON AX4-5SC running Navisphere Manager with FlareOE 02.23.050.5.711 (the latest release found on Powerlink). Brocade DS300-B Fiber Channel Switch. Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 server with Brocade FCHBA. The Server and storage have been zoned correctly. Software installed on the Host: EMC PowerPath 5.3 64bit (this is the latest version found on Powerlink and yet it has been released in 2008!?) and Navisphere Server Utility v29.0.6.1. Attached images showing the setup in detail. Could anyone please provide some insight as to what may have gone wrong in this setup? Also, is there really no newer version of PowerPath available?? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/802/hostoverview.jpg/ and http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/577/navispheremanager.jpg/ Thanks for reading.

PowerPath 5.5 and 5.5 SP1 should work with AX4-5 with Flare code 2.23

Hi Sam, Each disk is being displayed more than twice. Do you know if PowerPath v5.5 SP1 works with the AX4-5SC?

My apologies - I replied before looking at the photos.
You need to make sure that ArrayCommPath and FailoverMode are set to 1 or enabled for that host in Navisphere. This may require you to remove the host from the storage group - reboot and put the host back into the storage group.

Removing the host requires the deletion of the raid group and thus i will loose all the data on the volumes. Is there any way i can this without loosing all the volume data?

Sorry for being persistent, i'm new to EMC.Could you please explain where i can find ArrayCommPath and FailoverMode settings in the Navisphere console? Also, support.emc.com does not have any entries to the AX4-5SC only AX4-5FSC and ISC. Either way, no matter which one i select, there is no software labeled Power anywhere. Only Unisphere Host agent stuff.
FYI this is a Fiber Channel AX.

The latest version of PowerPath for Windows is PowerPath v5.5 SP1 - and is available from support.emc.com
As far as multiple entries for devices appearing in Disk management - is this for all disks or only specific disks.

Hi,
Afte runinstalling the Old PowerPath, rebooting, Installing PowerPath 5.5 SP1 found on support.emc.com and rebooting i can confirm that the multi path are now gone. I have tested the startup functionality and the volumes are listed correctly even after a third reboot.
Thanks for the help.
