IOPs
IHAC for whom I moved data from CX to VNX. After removal, I offlined the disk(windows) and removed the HBA and cable connecting to the CX fabric. (VNX has a new fabric). The CX LUN is still available in the storage group. The LUN is unmounted from the host and no connection to the LUN from the the CX fabric exists. still the CX LUN continues to see IOPS.. any idea what could be the reason?

check if that LUN is presented to other system, remember a LUN can be presented to multiple storage groups.

Thanks for your response.
The LUN is not presented to any other hosts .
Is it possible to clear the counters in the CX LUNs to 0 and then checking if it is picking up new iops?

i don't remember if you stop/restart statistical logging if that will clear them, worth a shot. I assume you don't have navi analyzer ?

If your using Navisphere, log into the CX array, then on the array icon in the Storage tab, right click and select Properties - on the General tab you should see a Statistics Logging check box - uncheck it - this will stop statistics logging for ALL devices on the array.
For the LUN in question, have you removed it from the Storage Group? Check the Hosts for the Storage Group - right click on the Storage Group name and select Hosts - if you see a host listed, then the LUN is still connected to that host.
Also, it's helpful is you provide both the model of the CX and the flare version running.

Many Thanks Glen.
Is there any way to clear the existing stats and not disable it permanently. I just want to observe if there is any new traffic captured once the stats are zeroed.
The model of the array is CX 480C and CX-120C and the flare version is 04.30.000.5.524
The LUN is not removed from the SG yet. However there is no connectivity between the host and the array. The LUN was unmounted from the host and the HBA removed. Both CX and VNX are on separate fabrics. Hence the HBA connecting to CX fabric was no longer required once the storage was migrated to VNX.

Can you try to change the host id for that LUN....and see if that makes any difference...
Thnx

Let's get back to the first question.
You say that this LUN is still seeing IOPS. How are you looking at the LUN to determine that it is seeing IOPS?.
Once a LUN is created, there are background processes running on the disks in the raid group - sniffer is one - this is continually checking the condition of the the disks and the IO is recorded against the disks and LUN. This IO is pretty low level, but it is there.
