How to fix "The device map is corrupt" error on a CX4-960?

The issue is I have an enduser that is unable to have success with creating/deleting LUNS, Storage Pools, RaidGroups. After Looking at the collects I noticed a lot of drive movement that they have admitted to and the drives the array expects to be in the correct slots are no longer available. To add to the matter they have also deleted and unbinded luns and now I see the error of the devive map is corrupt with gives them the error that they connot create anything due to LUN inconsistencies. Any help is much appreciated.

This is an imminent data loss situation, even if you recover it chances are it would be corrupt.

Hi,

You may create a Service Request Referring EMC KB Article: https://support.emc.com/kb/85019 with SPCollects attached which will be reviewed by EMC Sustaining/Engineering Team and will let you know if they can rebuild the device map or not.

However, since you have mentioned in the Problem Summary that the Disk(s) in slots were swapped, LUNs/RAID Groups were destroyed/Unbound. There is a rare chance to rebuild the map. Moreover, if user has created new RAID Groups or LUNs after destroying the RGRP or LUNs chances are even slimmer.

Good Luck! and do share the outcome with the community for the future references.

Thanks,

Ankit

Hi,

Sameeksha is right. Contact support and get it fixed. Until n unless Device map error is cleared you will not be able to do any configuration changes on the box.

Thanks

I will suggest this to the enduser, the array is no longer under warranty so I am unsure of there willngness to pay for extra support on this array. I just wanted to check it wasn't something a service partner should be able to perform for them.
