Error 7202:The storage system detects unsupported disk drives and will not bring them online

Hi.

I have a Clariion AX4-5 with 7 disk of 750GB.

One of them is a HotSpare (number 5).

I removed two disk (disk 6 and 7) and connect to Windows System to check are ok. Not write them, only open Disk Managament tools.

When I try to connect again to Clariion appears in log window this message:

Error 7202:The storage system detects unsupported disk drives and will not bring them online

I try to resolve this issue and connect it to slot number 4 and later to HotSpare. Changed state to Transational but finally Fault.

Can somebody help me

Thanks in advance.

In Component View appears disk 5 and 6 Fault.

When I press one of disk:

  • State: Empty
  • Drive Type: Unknown
  • Serial Number: N/A
  • Part Number: N/A
  • Vendor Name: N/A
  • Disk Pool: N/A

In Events View appears this message:

2014/04/28 12:24:49 0x7202 The storage system detects an unsupported disk drive and will not bring it online. Enclosure 0 Disk 5

In 'Attention Required' appears previous message and this:

Error:  There are power/cooling modules in the storage system that are not working properly. (0x7402)

Error: The storage system's Standby Power Supplies (SPSs) are not working properly. (0x7404)

Inforrmation: The storage system has disabled its write cache, most likely due to a hardware issue (shown as alerts on the Attention Required page). (0x720f)

But these errors already appeared previously.

The two disks that you removed, disks 6 and 7. You removed these from the AX4-5. Were these two disks part of a Disk Pool?

Why did you remove these disks - was there a fault on these two disks?

If you removed these two disks and connected them to a Windows server, you did this to check to see if the disks are working? This will not work as the disks in the AX4-5 are formatted different from Windows Server. The Windows operating system may have attempted to write something to the disks.

Can you paste a screen capture of the Components view, then a view of the Disk Pools what contain the disks.

My general recommendation would be that you have a number of issues on the array - the SPS are not working (which will disable the Write cache), so you need to replace the SPS. There may also be a fault in the cooling.  You should probably contact your service provider to help with these errors.

Those disks aren´t part of a Disk Pool.

I removed disks becouse I thought I could exchange them for others with more capacity.

When I saw that were not working I thought that those disks have any data and this is the reason to connect windows system.

But not write anything. Only open disk management and appears blank disk.

I connected again disks to Clariion but not working...
