CX4-120 Vault LUN rebuild
I have a cx4-120 array recently have double vault disk failure (0-0-1 and 0-0-4). Both drives have been replaced and the array operates normally except that "write cache" is disabled. The SP analysis indicates the hidden vault lun 8196 is marked as RDY, which causes write cache could not be enabled.
Under normal circumstance, this is the time to contact EMC support. But, my system is no longer under maintenance contract and I have no production data on it now. The cost is out of my reach at the moment. Any suggestions of things to try? I assume there must be a way to bring the hidden vault lun (8196 on RAID 3) back online or remove and rebuild the vault lun?
Thanks!

equalization process completed on both drives. All disks and visible LUNs are normal. There is no faults on the system except warning on write cache. Thanks for your reply.

Hi,
This kind of scenario requires support lab's intervention and investigation.
Can you confirm us whether the equalization of vault drives got completed or not?

Hi,
If equalization is completed and still vault lun is not enabled, then it's recommended to engage emc support team.
It requires deeper analysis of the problem after which they will unbind/rebind the vault lun.

The procedures are in the KB article "Resolving write cache that will not stay enabled on a CX Series array after drives replaced", but only EMC employee or partners can access it. You should call Technical Support before proceeding because this procedure should rarely if ever need to be done. Unbinding the vault can almost certainly panic an SP.
