Controller and software for CX4-480 + DAE3P
I have recently acquired a used dell/emc DAE4P Fiber enclosure and a CX4-480. I have never worked with EMC Fiber SANs but from what I understand the enclosure is dumb and cannot be used as a direct-attach and needs to communicate with the CX4-480. I have a windows 2008 server system and I am getting an EMC knowledge overload with attempting to install and use the enclosure. I think I need navisphere on my server to communicate with the CX4?

The way the array works is thought the LAN connections on each Storage Processor. These ports on the CX4 are normally set to 100Mb/s with auto/auto.
You access the array using a WEB browser - IE8 is best for CX4. You also need JAVA installed - use 1.6.30 to begin - it's the most stable for CX4. You start the connection by typing in the IP address for one of the Storage Processors (there are two - SPA and SPB). The array will then connect to your browser using Java and should present a login page.
Go to this site - it will build a custom set of documentation to help you setup the array.
