Please consider moving this question as-is (no need to recreate) to the proper forum for maximum visibility.  Questions written to the users' own "Discussions" space don't get the same amount of attention and can go unanswered for a long time.

You can do so by selecting "Move" under ACTIONS along the upper-right.  Then search for and select: "CLARiiON Support Forum".

The CLARiiON arrays used a variety of base operating systems over the years that were based on the Windows operating systems (embedded). Some were based on XP, some on Window 2003/2008. Flare is a separate program.

There must be an operating system to let CPU, RAM, SCSI bus and disks work together, EMC (or DGC) chose Windows for CLARiiON.

Yes. Read More about FLARE: Clariion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rather than just Windows XP, lets just say Custom Windows OS, depending on the FLARE Release on the Storage Unit.

Hi Glen & Roger , thanks for your answers.

I read on some book that the XP OS is used for managing the clarrion and the FLARE OS is the actual data mover that is responsible for the data movements on the DAEs . Is that right?
