AX100SCi------can ping the SP IP but cannot ping the scsi IP
Hi Support Engineer,
I have one PC and I have installed the powerpath and the navisphere on it, I set its IP as 192.168.0.5.
What I am using is AX100SCi, I assigned an IP address 192.168.0.2 to the SP and I can ping it.
Then, I assigned an IP address to the SCSi as 192.168.0.6 via the Manage iSCSI screen and tried to test it, but I can ping nothing other than itself.
Can somebody help me to get out of that issue? Bunch of thanks in advance!
Bevan

Bevan,
Firstly please move this to the proper community for maximum visibility. You can do so by selecting "Move discussion" in the upper-right corner and choosing, in this case:
All Places > Support Community > CLARiiON Support Forum
A few thoughts:
1) Firstly, as best practice you will want the management subnet separate from the iSCSI subnet which is often a separate private network shared only by the iSCSI initiators and the iSCSI targets. You will want to refer to the following KB article for a thorough list of best practices:
emc245445: "Facts, limitations, and recommended settings when using CLARiiON iSCSI"
Even though the AX series isn't explicitly mentioned, most of it still relates.
2) While you will want to assign a private subnet as noted above, a few thoughts in the meantime about what you are experiencing:
a) Even though the ping from the targets to the host fails (possible host-based firewall), have you tried to proceed with the target discovery in the iSCSI (software) initiator? Can I assume that you have generic NICs and a Windows host and using the MS iSCSI software initiator.
b) Assuming you have telnet on the server, can you try to telnet to the iSCSI port: TCP/3260?
c) Are you able to ping the targets from the server? Again, is there a host-based firewall running on the server such as the default Windows FW?
d) I'll assume you have configured the switch ports as access ports, but have you possibly configured the switch ports as trunk ports expecting it to support more than one VLAN? If so then have you assigned the proper VLAN ID (tag) to the interfaces?
e) If you are by chance expecting to use jumbo frames, is every participant (iSCSI initiator, switch, and iSCSI target) configured with a consistent MTU. The switch may require an MTU of 9216 bytes (if it supports it) while the end-points will typically be assigned an MTU of 9000.
f) Consider generating a customized document:
EMC CLARiiON AX150 support: Install
Select: "Attach a host (server)"
g) Consider reviewing the "host connectivity guide" on support.emc.com. There is a guide for each supported Operating System. Search the "documents" for "host connectivity guide "
