Add AX4-5i array to ECOM with TestSmiProdider fails
Hi,
I want to monitor a EMC AX4-5i storage device with our monitoring software via the EMC SMI-S provider. I've installed the EMC SMI-S Provider on a management server, which has a IP connection to the storage device.
I've installated the latest version of the SMI-S provider and the flare version on the device is 02.23.
I receive the following error while adding the system to the provider:
Error: The requested object cannot be found. (com.emc.cmp.osls.se.osl.DiscoveryServices.StorInstanceDiscover():142 C:ERROR_CLASS_SOFTWARE F:ERROR_FAMILY_NOTFOUND R:1000052 L:2 1000052 : "No objects of the requested type were found" : "SymDiscover Failed" : 2 : 40 : "No devices were found")
I get the same error when i try to add a AX150i device.
How can i fix this?

I've found the solution. The device is running on FLARE version 02.23. After double checking the support matrix i found that it requires SMI-S Provider version 3.2 which does not support Windows Server 2008. I've installed the software on a Win2k3 machine and it works! Does that mean that the software is not backwards compatible?? The new Provider version does not support FLARE version 23!

Have you enabled SNMP on the AX4? Are you running NaviExpress or Navisphere?

Sorry - I was thinking of SNMP, not ECOM - I recommend that you open a case with EMC with the ECOM product - this will get you the fastest answer.

Primus Soultion emc274035 mentions the exact error while trying to add a CLARiiON and problem in discovering CLARiiON array . It suggests a network issue, you may try checking the network connectivity.
