256 LUNs in a RAID Group !!!
Hi All ,
Why only 256 LUNs in a RAID group . Not that I need more luns , just curious . Couldnt find an answer to this one online .
Me thinks , it could be way too many IOPS for the disks in the RAID group to handle and hence the limitation 256 ?
Regards
Rajiv

As this limitation as been around for a very long time (back to at least the FC5300 and maybe earlier than that), it's was probably a limitation based on code developed at that time.

The maximum file name length is 256 on NTFS, why? Because Microsoft thought it is enough for most people. I believe it is the same on CLARiiON.
