Sign out of your Chromebook.
Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.
Select Restart.
In the box that appears, select Powerwash. Continue.
Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account

Hi

CHROME OS onto a USB via the BRAVE web browser in W10.

I read a page of instructions ….https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/reinstall-chrome-os-chromebook/

Resetting a Dell Chromebook will remove all user data and settings, restoring it to its factory default state. However, it's essential to note that once you reset the Chromebook, any locally stored data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Here's how you can reset your Dell Chromebook:

  1. Backup Data (if possible): Before proceeding with the reset, ensure that any important data or files are backed up to an external storage device or cloud storage service. This will prevent data loss during the reset process.

  2. Sign out of your Google Account: To reset the Chromebook, sign out of your Google Account. Click on your profile picture in the bottom right corner of the screen, then click "Sign out".

  3. Reset Chromebook: Once signed out, follow these steps to reset the Chromebook:

    • Press and hold the "Esc + Refresh" keys simultaneously.
    • While holding the keys, press the Power button.
    • Continue holding the "Esc + Refresh" keys until you see a screen that says "Chrome OS is missing or damaged".
    • Release the keys, then press "Ctrl + D" to initiate Developer Mode.
    • Press Enter to confirm the transition to Developer Mode.
    • The Chromebook will now begin the recovery process, which will erase all local data and restore the device to its factory default settings.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset process.
  4. Recovery: After the reset is complete, you can sign in with your Google Account to set up the Chromebook again. Any apps and settings synced to your Google Account will be restored.

It's important to understand that resetting the Chromebook will delete all locally stored data, including downloaded files and installed apps. Therefore, it's crucial to back up any important data before initiating the reset process. Additionally, ensure that you have a stable internet connection during the recovery process to download any necessary updates and settings.
