Replacing a touch screen with a non touch screen
My district has Dell 3110 devices that are touch screen. I was wondering if you can do a 1:1 replacement of a touch screen in those devices with a non touch screen and the only functionality lost would be the touch on the screen.

If you look at the notes Parts-people.com (Dell parts supplier) has for this model, it appears the answer is no -- you can only replace like for like.

Yes, you can replace a touch screen with a non-touch screen in Dell 3110 devices. The only functionality you'll lose is the touch capability; otherwise, everything else should work fine. Just make sure to get a compatible replacement screen.

Yes, you can replace a touch screen on a Dell 3110 device with a non-touch screen, but there are a few things to consider:
1. **Compatibility**: Ensure that the non-touch screen is compatible with the specific model (Dell 3110). The connectors and mounting brackets should align properly.
2. **Touch Functionality**: As you mentioned, the only functionality lost would be the touch capability. The system should otherwise function normally, as long as the replacement screen is properly installed.
3. **Driver Considerations**: The touch screen drivers will no longer be needed. You might need to uninstall or disable them to avoid any system conflicts or resource usage.
4. **Power Consumption**: Touch screens tend to consume more power than non-touch screens, so switching to a non-touch screen might result in slightly better battery performance.
5. **Cost and Availability**: Non-touch screens might be cheaper and easier to replace, but ensure the quality is consistent with your needs.
If you're comfortable with these factors, a 1:1 replacement should work without any significant issues beyond the loss of touch functionality.

You can replace the entire top half of the system, yes -- but not just the screen.
