Retention class period vs MAX fixed retention period in Centera pool
If the retention class period is larger than the FP_FIXED_RETENTION_MAX defined in the pool, what will be the effective retention period on the C-clip that gets assigned the retention class?
For example, if the retention period for CLASS1 is set to 10 years, and FP_FIXED_RETENTION_MAX in the cluster is 10 days, when will the C-clip that gets assigned retention class CALSS1 be eligible for deletion - in 10 days or 10 years?

Hi,
A retention period is an application-specified number of seconds that a C-Clip must exist for before it is eligible for deletion. A retention class is a named retention period, where the name and duration are specified by the system administrator. An event-based retention period or class adds another time period to a C-Clip that enables the C-Clip to wait for a future event before it can be deleted. A C-Clip under retention hold prevents it from being deleted and overrides all
existing retention policies on the C-Clip. Default retention is specified at the pool level, and it applies to all C-Clips that do not have an explicit retention period or retention class.an EMC Centera cluster may or may not be configured to enforce retention. When retention is enforced, retained content cannot be
deleted.
Hope this helps
