Problems with clipDel on CASSscript
Trying to clean up some pools left over from decommissioned archiving software. The apps are long gone. This is what I get:
CASScript>clipdel BKBB440MDP0HTe33H80LEUEFK7U
SDK Error Occurred:

ok thats good
Yes if you have centeraviewer you can just use it to add D to the profile then you can use jcasscript to delete the clips

a few possibilities:
- you are using a profile has no delete capability (check with CV->CLI-> show profile details)
- the clip has a retention period that is not yet expired. In that case you can use 'privileged' delete, but I don't think you can do that with JCASscript. You can only use privileged delete if your profile has this capability and your cluster is not in CE+ or something.

the d is delete (normal delete) the D means you can use the priviledged delete option on the audited_del call to overide retention on GE centers. If your centera is in CE+ mode and your clips have infinite retention then they cannot ever be deleted.

The clips all have infinite retention. Don't ask me why.
I believe the profile has delete capability, but I'm not sure. I can't find what the letter codes mean anywhere. There are little "d"s in cluster mask, pool mask, granted, and effective. But, there is also a big "D", and I can't remember if the little d is delete or the big D is delete.
I can't cut and paste from the Centera Viewer either so I can't show you what I see.

We just had professional services remove a bunch of infinite-retention data from the cluster about 7 months ago, so I know data can be deleted.
It's just a Governance Edition, or whatever is the "middle" level.
Unfortunately, the profile has no big D's for permissions. Can I update the profile with the privileged delete and go all Crash Bandicoot on the data?
The profile is dead. Nothing is using it. The installaiton of Enterprise Vault that was originally using it was abandoned and subsequently decommissioned when it didn't live up to expectations.

Ok, I tried that and I still can't delete clips.
Is there something that has to be done to the clip before I can just do a clipdel on it?
Still getting the same FP_OPERATION_NOT_ALLOWED error.

Got it!
Turns out I needed two things:
1. Use "clipdelaudited" instead of "clipdel"
2. Had to get EMC to lower the supported object count (SOC) so I could get a toe-hold and start deleting.
So far I've eliminated 2TB of worthless data, working on a 3rd. Have another 6 more after that.
