Identification of Clip Types, x, e, r
Our IBM Commonstore application (mail archiving app.) administrator is asking that we confirm that application deletes reach the Centera.
All clips I can see (ClipBrowser index) are of type "e" (metadata) with all blobs of type "x"
I see no reflection clips and "show replication detail" always lists 0 deletes to replicate: Number of C-Clip Deletes to be replicated: 0
Should I see "r" clips if there have been deletes, and see non-see deletes to replicate?
How do I verify that the application, which has defined aging and delete rules, is passing deletes to the Centera?
Active software version: 3.1.3-2082-903-20381

The 'x' signifies a content blob on the Centera. Just as 'e' signifies a c-clip.
You can use the 'show location' in Centera Viewer for the clip that you know was deleted. It will show you the reflection file that was created.

The tool that you are using (ClipBrowser) is very old from 2003. The tool was written before the concept of reflections were introduced into the Centera. To answer your question, 'yes' there will be a reflection file created on the file system with the notation of '_R_'.
Example:
Clip-ID: C1C1DPP9DO8KAe0M6N43K71J443G413EC9JQGK0V27VLMCUU26JPJ
Delete issued.
Reflection: G413EC9JQGK0V27VLMCUU26JPJC1C1DPP9DO8KAe0M6N43K71J443~GM_R_BS4LD058NHQRI117F88FI81K7T~MD5~M2-1P37CO5VVP7.0
The reflection file may vary since my example is from a CentraStar 4.0 system. You should get an Centera SDK error in the TSM log in the application if the deletes are not getting to the Centera.
Hope this helps...

Just to clarify my typo: As deletes arrive "show replication detail" should list non-ZERO deletes to replicate. Correct? I only see "0" (we have 2 Centeras w/ replication)
What does "x" signifiy in clips (blobs)?
Is there any tool that can list/view on a Centera, deletes, or reflection clips?
Thanks!
