How to trend storage usage?
I do not know much about Centera's. But have been asked to "trend" storage.
Is there a way?

there is always the cli that you can run "show capacity available" , pipe it to a file and then script it its output.

I know how much is available. I am looking for something that will trend how long it will be until consumed. Something along the lines of what the Celerra uses to predict full.

Centera Console provides historical data that would allow you to check utilization over time. If you do not have Centera Console, the you could look at the daily health reports over time.
Centera Viewer CLI command "show config notification" will show you who receives the daily health reports and alerts.
If you are interested in daily utilization, then look at these daily. If weekly then pick a day of the week and look at the health reports from that day for each week for the desired period of time. You can compare "Available Capacity" if monitoring whats available. Monitor "Protected User Data" for the amount of user data you have written to the Centera. This is shown at the bottom of the health report.
Example:
Cluster Capacity
Total Capacity:
59617 GB
System Resources:
247 GB
Offline Capacity:
0 GB
Used Capacity:
36113 GB
Audit MetaData:
198 GB
Protected User Data:
35914 GB
Spare Capacity:
0 GB
Free Capacity:
23255 GB
Available Capacity:
19449 GB
Available Capacity Until Alert:
19449 GB
Used Object Count:
155124047
Total Object Count:
1201398816
Free Object Count:
1046274769
System Buffer:
1943 GB
Regeneration Buffer:
1863 GB

Hi
I can propose that we perform a test phase of our managed services on your systems. This will graphically show you the development of your used and available capacity we well as the object count usage. We will also calculate for how long your capacity and object count last based on the growth.
Three months are no problem. We'll create a monitoring profile and need a windows station that can send emails. We remove all IP Information prior to sending an encrypted mail and have passed several security reviews for Swiss Finance customers.
Best regards, Holger
