C-Clips written into the wrong pool by CUA, is it possible to migrate these?
HI,
I have a Centera unit with a CUA front-end set up as follows:
Application A writes to CIFS share A which is configured in smb.conf to write to path /sfs/gateway_cifs/AppA/ which is mapped to ProfileA
Application B writes to CIFS share B which *also* has an smb configuration to write to path /sfs/gateway_cifs/AppA/
This is a misconfiguration for Application B. It was supposed to be defined to write to path /sfs/gateway_cifs/AppB/. This mistake has led to clips being written into PoolA on the centera, by application B.
Here is what smarts: Pool A was configured with retention set to infinate, and Application B has written millions of small objects into this via the CUA share misconfiguration.
I need to formulate a plan to try to clean up this mess. That is, migrate App B files into the correct pool, and fix the configuration mistake such that APP B still can access existing files, also writing new files into the correct pool.
Has anyone out faced a similar problem that can offer some advice/
Cheers,
Stefan.

Hi John,
Thanks i was thinking along silmilar lines. I beleive it is possble to have the application (Mimosa Nearpoint) write to 2 repository paths. If it can be configured to favour the second exclusively from this point in time forward then I think the situation is livable.
Lesson learned: work very slowly and carefully when configuring archiving solutions of any kind!!!
Many thanks,
Stefan.
