About Centera Clip Delete

Hi Centera Experts,

I have one question. There is CE+ Centera cluster.

Does CE+ version not allow setting a default retention period ? If so, our application did not set the retention period for clips, if these clips can not be delete by using FPClip_Delete()? How can we delete the clips manual if we want?

Hello,
Compliance Edition Plus (CE+): Compliance Edition Plus is designed to meet the most stringent requirements for electronic storage media as established by regulations from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other national and international regulatory groups. It draws on the core strengths of the Centera platform while adding extensive compliance capabilities. Compliance Edition Plus brings Write Once, Read Many (WORM) protection to critical digital information.

A CE+ Centera defaults to Infinite retention unless otherwise specified by the application or via a retention set.
There is no way the clips can be deleted during the retention period as this is the design feature of the Centera. There are no "back doors" in CE+. If the default retention of infinite applies to a clip then it cannot (under any circumstance) be deleted. On a GE edition, Privileged Delete could be enabled and is used to override the retention.

EMC provides two options to erase the data on your Centera cluster.
There is a Certified Data Erasure engagement that will erase all data on the cluster and provide you with a certification document for your company to prove that all data on the cluster was destroyed to industry specifications.  This is the only real option if the box is in CE+ compliance mode.
Contact your SAM for more information.
