VNX Replication Testing

I have a File System replicated between two VNX 5700s remote from each other.  The customer wants to test the destination file system as Read/Write, without interfering with the source data, and when the testing is done, discard any changes to the destination file system and resume replication.  If I simply stop replication, will that automatically set the destination file system to read/write?  Or do I have to do a Failover?

Thanks,

To activate the replicated filesystem read-write, you would need to do a Failover.  However, there are easier ways to perform what is essentially a DR Test.  You'll see other posts about it here in the forums, but you could take a read-write snapshot of the destination filesystem, export it via CIFS or NFS, then perform your testing without interrupting the replication session.

Let us know if that helps!

to add to what Karl mentioned is that you will not be able to use the same CIFS server if you use read-write snapshot scenario. On DR VNX you will need to create a CIFS server on physical datamover and create a CIFS share using Windows MMC.
