UserMapper - Convert from Primary to Secondary
Any tricks here to watch out for? Existing CX-480 as primary and plan to merge / convert to a secondary UM. Already have CIFS user/group files exported and ready to merge. Does CIFS have to be disabled or user activity stopped first?

You can verify/check using server_cifssupport against the new SECONDARY CIFS server:
where is a NEW user who has not yet been mapped to the Celerra. If this succeeds without error, your Usermapper setup is working correctly, as it will query the primary for a new UID/GID pair.

Good idea to check the network ports first, thanks.
So once I have the combined User/group lists…
1. Import merged list into VNX-1 Primary
2. Disable Primary UM on VNX-2
3. Enable Secondary UM on VNX-2
4. Verify / check ??

You don't have to stop/start CIFS to change from primary to secondary. Make sure your combined lists are present on your primary. Your secondary will authenticate all the way through to your primary each time it needs to generate a UID/GID pair for a new user, which means all of the appropriate network ports and protocols need to be allowed through any firewalls which might exist between the primary and secondary. Also, if your network goes down between the primary and secondary, new users will not get access. They will get an error like "An extended error has occurred" or something similar.

Correct.
Disabling the primary Usermapper and enabling the secondary Usermapper (assuming server_2):
where a.b.c.d is the IP address of the DM running your primary Usermapper.
