Unity 480 File System Data Reduction Issue & Performance Concerns
Hi,
I am using a Dell EMC Unity 480 running UnityOS 5.4.0.0.5.094.
I have a file system configured with a size of 22TB (14.9 TiB used). This file system was initially set up with Data Reduction enabled.
Recently, I decided to cancel Data Reduction on this file system. However, after disabling it, I received the following message:
"Only the newly written data will have data reduction applied. Existing data will remain unchanged."
I have two questions regarding this situation:
- Is there a way to completely remove Data Reduction from all existing data on this file system?
- If not, would it be advisable to clone the file system? If cloning is recommended, could you please provide detailed steps on how to properly clone a file system in Unity 480?
As part of troubleshooting, I also reconfigured the file system to "Highest Available Tier," but unfortunately, this did not resolve the performance issue.
The reason I am addressing this is that I am experiencing very low data copying speeds specifically on this file system. Other file systems on the same Unity array have normal performance.
I appreciate any guidance or best practices to resolve this issue.
Thanks!
