Unable to Join CIFS Server to Domain
Hi I am trying to join the CIFS server to the domain and it keeps failing.
For domain I just have our domain name not a specific Domain Controller; for instance I have --> Company.com
For the OU by default it is Computers: EMC Celerra , I tried using this as well as deleting the computers part. There is already an OU called EMC Celerra in our AD environment. I have schema admin permissions to AD and I plug those in still doesnt work.
What could I be doing wrong fairly new to this. I am using Unisphere to do the creation.

It says FAILED when I check the background tasks.
Modify CIFS server server_2:ITFS. Join failed. System was unable to join or has already joined the CIFS server to the domain. Go to the server log for more detail. Where is the server log?

can you ssh to the control station and run "server_log server_2" ...look for errors around that time you tried to join it to AD or just try to join it again.

Also look at the CIFS manual for the different join options
Make sure your time is in sync

I had same issue couple days ago, what I did is:
1) deleted CIFS server (this is is new installation).
2) run -Unjoin command
3) run -Join command and it worked
I also used EMC Celerra OU option (didn't have to delete Computers).
One more thing, after you try to unjoin CIFS you will get message that the host doesn't exist in AD, that's ok. Also make sure before you join agin, to delete OU from AD (unless you have other CIFS servers there
)
