Tree Quotas and the Windows Tab

Hi All,

I have an NS-120 with DART 6.0.61.

I have read the PDF for quota management and i know what i must do.

I have a file system of 100GB.

It has several directories at the top level - one of these is "Users".

This will contain a bunch of directories for all our users. There will be standard security which allows users only RW into their own directory.

If i wan tquotas on this DIRECTORY, (i.e. not the root of the file system), then i need to craete a TREE QUOTA.

Then i can create a USER QUOTA within this Tree Quota.

I have tested it and its fine.

I have quotas in place.

There are caveats around creating the tree quota in advance of creating the directory and so on. They were all observed.

Question.

My Windows admin wants to control the quotas. I would like him to also.

I read in this blog - https://community.emc.com/message/612700#612700 - that if you map to the root of the FS you get the Windows Quota Tab.

I have tried and this works for sure.

BUT, i have a tree quota and i only want quotas at the tree level. The blog seemed to suggest that if you map to where the directory with the tree quota is, you will ALSO get the tab.

I cannot get this no matter what i try.

Is it possible?

Should i be able to see it if i map to this?

Can i only see it if i indeed map to the root of the FS? If so, thats disappointing and management will have to remain with the Storage people instead of the Windows people.

Thank You.

Hi,

You cannot set group quotas, quota trees, grace periods, and inode (file count) quotas from the Windows platform.
