Returning Celerra LUNs for block party - NS120.
Good morning everyone!
I have an NS120 in the company that has a 2 TB file system, this volume'm only using 110GB. I would like to return the unused volume for part of block.
There is only this file system in the environment, however he is occupying the entire NAS Storage Pool and all volumes are in use. Celerra this using two Raid Group in CX-120.
Which is better way to revisit this space? Have flexibility to move the data to another share to make the change.
Thanks for help!

ok, Celerra is very particular when it comes to raid group construct. Make sure to use appropriate number of drives when you create new raid groups, pay attention to drive type and supported raid group configuration.

Dynamox, thanks for the reply!
To do this I must have free disks at the block and create a new Raid Group? Or you can create a new LUN, perform for the NS and migrate the file system?
No more drives available to create a new Raid Group, if necessary have to move the data to another location, and destroy the file system, and storage pool volumes and recreate it again with the new volumetrics?
Thank you.

did you check to see if all LUNs presented are in use ?

you would need to present new storage to datamovers, create user defined pool and then migrate that file system there. That would allow you to reclaim original storage. Right now you can't shrink a file system and get that extra storage back.

i am afraid you will need to resort to more disruptive measures
. Move data off this platform, delete file systems, reclaim disks (make sure to do it properly). Create new smaller LUNs, recreate file systems and copy the data back. Customer can't invest into more drives/DAEs ?

That isnt showing disks – that is only showing the LUNs that are visible to the data movers
Anyway – in order to reclaim the space for block usage you need to free up LUNs
You can check with /nas/tools/whereisfs if your fs is using all the LUNs

Rainer EMC,
All volumes are in use by the File System ... I have the possibility to create new LUNs on Storage and submit to the NS, but it does not know whether to just add these LUNs and put in the Storage Group for the NS I migrate the data and destroy the file system LUN and resume work.
Thank you.

Dynamox,
You can not invest in new discs right now! Deleting the file system I can now remove the volume and return to the block? I know that the file system uses these existing LUNs 549657MB, the intention is to return these volumes.
I think I'll have to follow your suggestion, move the data to another location delete the file system, delete these records and recreate the new file system on other disks.
My question is, to create these new smaller volumes have to be free on AEDs disks to create a new RAID Group?

when you say you have "other" disk, what do you mean ?

Dynamox,
I mean I think the best option, and move the files to another location to destroy the file system, remove the volumes and use the hard disk to create a new file system on a smaller new Raid Group! ok?
I have free space in raid groups to create more LUNs however I have more free hard disks to create a new raid group!
My understanding is that it is not possible to create a new file system if no free hard disks in storage, this correct?
Thank you for helping me!

I have two Raid Group dedicated to the Celerra, the idea is to return one of these "RAID Group" for storage (block).
I can create these LUNs in "RAID Groups" existing temporarily, because soon this volume of data will be removed.

best option is to use a dedicated raid group(s) and not share raid group with LUNs provisioned to block systems. Right now do you have dedicated raid groups being used for Celerra LUNs ?

it depends on the model and the type of drives, that link i provided earlier should help you answer that question.
