Rescan error in Celerra

Hi Folks,

I have allocated 20 GB preallocated thin device from V-max to Celerra.When did the rescan in Celerra manager the rescan was gettin faild with the below error.Please suggest me ASAP>i have to allocate stoarge to the NAS on prioarity as we are running out of space on NAS.

Severity: Error Error
Brief Description: Rescan failed.
Full Description: Storage system Rescan failed.
Recommended Action: Make sure the system is not in Failover state. If the system is failed over, execute the Restore action to bring it to OK state.

Error 5008: server_2 :
13421849340: File system sample is made up of disk volumes with inconsistent density: d448 (dense STD),d449 (dense STD),d450 (dense STD),d451 (dense STD),d452 (dense STD),d453 (dense STD),d454 (virtual STD),d385 (dense STD)

are other devices presented to Celerra are traditional devices or TDEVs as well ?

d454 is your problem.

Yes you are correct.Thin with 100% preallocated Size.

when ever we use preallocate size, that device act as a reguler device...am i right.kindly correct me if i am wrong

You are correct, d454 was rescanned a while ago.

As long as your filesystem sample living on inconsistent densities, you will not be able to do a succesfull rescan.

This is what the error messages is telling.

You need to solve the FS sample issue before you will be able to succesfull rescan

I assume d454 is a thin device and all others are thick devices

only d454 (virtual STD) is a TDEV..remaini ng all are reguler devices.

No that is not my problem.That is 1 TB devices which we have allocated erlier.Yesterday i have allocated 20GB lun.i did rescan twice and thrice but no luck.

What NAS-Code Version are you using?

Thanks for you response peter.

I have checked my FS (Sample).....it is a 1 GN FS and we are not using that file system now.The below are the volumes of that Sample FS

it may act as a regular device, but the rescan is checking the device type without the "it may act like knowledge".

Yes there should be a reson for every private message.but the above command is not what i got as a private message.I wanted to know about that command what exactly that works.
