Renaming Interface name on celerra

Hi,

I am trying to rename the interface name (for ex: abc1 to abc) as per the client naming conventions. Can any one suggest me what are all the objects I need to consider like renaming IP DNS alias etc.. Some clients mounted NAS shares with IP and some clients mounted shares using alias on workstations. Does the rename impacts client shares?

share name is different from interface name, different from ip address that is assigned to interface. What is it exactly that you need to change ?

Rainer,

I need to change DNS resolved name also.  Some clients mounted shares with IP and some mounted using DNS name. If I change the name  nas12.test.xxx.com to nas1.test.xxx.com  Does it effect clients who are using shares?

Thank you

The name of an interface on the Celerra doesn't matter to clients

That is not the interface name

Whether or not changing the DNS name affects your clients depends on your protocol and how your clients connect and do name resolution

If you are worried I suggest to create an alias with the old name
