Hi,

Missed to write down. As EMC is not providing the DIMM for NS120 DM. So you will have to replace the datamover.

Need to involve EMC celerra support for safer side only.

Hi,

have you opened an SR with EMC, as this activity is performed by EMC engineer.

There is no such data backup required, but there is a procedure which needs to be followed to replace the datamover. the EMC customer engineer should have the procedure for you.

Hi Awais,

There is no data backup required (But if customer is worried then they can take backup) Only downtime is required for failover and failback. Need to check the DM slot before doing the failover primary DM to standby DM.

Just follow the CPG for DM replacement.

Note: Some time after replacing the datamover . mgmt switch will not respond/ping due to mgmt switch firmware mismatch. In this condition, you will have to update the f/w of mgmt switch. So plan for proper downtime.

Hi,

if you are an authorized service partner then please download and use the VNX procedure generator.

Hi MAwais,

Find the procedure below:

root@fargo ~]# /nasmcd/sbin/t2cab
          3 -  CELERRA IP CABINET
The Cabinet child is : 14 - a CELERRA ARGONAUT

  1. On primary CS, locate the tftpboot.tgz in /nas/tools and extract it

    # cd /;tar xvzf /nas/tools/tftpboot.tgz

  2. Place the appropriate mgmt file file in tftpboot directory.

  3. Extract the new version of switch firmware. In this step there is no need to backup the original mgmtfirmware_ag.s19 because it will be found in /nas/tools/tftpboot.tgz if required.

    # cd /tftpboot;
    # tar xvzf mgmt_FW.tgz

  4. Shut down the secondary Control Station (CS)  if any.

  5. Stop NAS service on primary CS.

  6. Run the upgrade.

    # cd /tftptboot
    # ./upgrade_mgmt_firmware.sh

  7. Restart all the services and CS.

Also when you will stop the nas services at that time you require the downtime.

So before doing that kindly take the permission from the customer and do that.

Also refer the primus

emc223234  and EMC emc158030

Hi MAwais,

Celerra team suggested this procedure when I faced issue after DM replacement.

As told you earlier, some time this issue come so hope you will not require to update mgmt f/w after replacing of DM.
