Nested File System and export of Files system Best Practices

Hello,

I'm actually testing the use of Nested File System for user shaving too big PFS hard
to backup due to their size.

I would like to know one thing.

When you export a normal FS, EMC strongly recommend not to export the root of the FS,
but to export a folder in the root FS. Like that you prevent users to access or
modify the .etc and lost + found located in the root of the FS. With Nested FS,
you cannot prevent this.

So is there a way to protect these 2 folders for each sub FS in the nested FS?

Many thanks

Eric

Hello Eric

You can hide the .etc and lost + found the same was as it is done in case of cifs share by creating mount points in a folder and then exporting it as it will hide the .etc and lost + found directoried. You can refer to emc140118 How to hide the ./etc and lost + found folders from a Celerra CIFS server. With NAS Code 5.6 and above you can create FS as big as 16 tb.

Please feel free to ask us if you need any further information.

Thanks
